How dependent are you on vaping?
Nine questions from the Penn State Electronic Cigarette Dependence Index to gauge your dependence on vaping. You get an indicative level and concrete next steps: guidance, not a diagnosis. The calculation stays on your device.
D'après le Penn State Electronic Cigarette Dependence Index (Foulds et al., 2015). Orientation, pas un diagnostic.
How this test is calculated
It uses the questions of the Penn State Electronic Cigarette Dependence Index (Foulds et al., 2015). Each answer is worth a number of points; the total, from 0 to 20, places your dependence on one of four levels. How often you vape, the time between waking and the first puff and the strength of your cravings weigh the most. The two original questions about waking at night are merged into one here, without changing the total. The score guides a quit attempt: it is not a diagnosis and does not replace advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
No answer is sent to our servers: the score is calculated in your browser. Adults only.
FAQ
Does this test give a diagnosis?
No. It uses a reference questionnaire to gauge dependence on vaping, but it does not replace an assessment by a health professional. It is guidance, not a diagnosis.
What does the score from 0 to 20 mean?
It reflects how strong your dependence is: the higher it is, the more likely you are to feel withdrawal when you quit, and the more support can help. A low score does not guarantee an easy quit, though: habits matter too.
Do I need a nicotine replacement product?
It depends on your situation. A medium to high level is often a good reason to talk to your doctor or pharmacist: only they can advise on a suitable product and dose.
