Why this number is useful
The yearly volume is the reference for everything else: it is what makes a 20% reduction legible, and it is what the app later turns into "units avoided". For vaping, an estimate is fine — counting your puffs for three days gives a base that is accurate enough for what follows.
Formula: daily use × 7, × 30 and × 365 for the weekly, monthly and yearly totals.
This tool measures neither a nicotine dose nor a level of dependence. It counts units, nothing more.
FAQ
How do I estimate my puffs per day?
Count over three ordinary days, then average. Another approach is to start from the number of disposables you get through in a week and the puff count claimed by the manufacturer, bearing in mind that claim is usually optimistic.
Why not show nicotine in milligrams?
Because how much is actually absorbed depends on the device, the inhalation technique and the product: showing it here, as units, would create a false impression of measurement. To estimate the nicotine contained in what you consume — from the figures printed on the product — there is a dedicated nicotine calculator. It stays an estimate, never a medical measurement.
What is the five-year total for?
To make concrete what is invisible day to day. Nobody pictures 2,190 cigarettes a year; almost everyone pictures how many cartons that is.
