Health disclaimer

This page states precisely what TakeBack is not. It is short because there is not much to qualify.

Updated September 15, 2026

What that means in practice

No content on this site or in the app constitutes a diagnosis, a prescription, a therapy or a treatment. The words "treatment", "therapy" and "clinically proven" do not appear to describe what we do, and that is not an oversight.

Where the health milestones come from

The recovery milestones shown — heart rate, carbon monoxide, lung function — come from publications by public health authorities, cited at the bottom of the relevant guides. They are population averages established for stopping smoked tobacco. They do not predict your personal trajectory.

No success rate

We publish no success statistics about our users. When the app measures the effectiveness of a technique, that measurement concerns you alone, based on your own attempts, and it shows "not enough attempts yet" while the sample is too small.

When to seek advice

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist if you are on medication, pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have a cardiac or respiratory condition, if you are considering a nicotine replacement or a quitting medication, or if stopping brings symptoms that worry you. In case of psychological distress, contact your local crisis line — Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland, 988 in the US and Canada.

Minors and non-users

Our apps are not intended for minors. Nothing on this site is designed to depict or normalise nicotine use, and no content addresses a person who does not use it.
